For children who have been traumatized by child abuse, abandonment and neglect, a relationship with a brother or sister often is their only source of emotional and psychological support. Sadly, many of these children will have to be removed from their home and placed in foster care and, more often than not, they will be separated from their siblings. Approximately 70 percent of siblings end up separated when they enter foster care.
Through Camp Connect San Diego, brothers and sisters separated in foster care have opportunities throughout the year to reconnect, strengthen family ties and create lasting childhood memories.

Camp Connect San Diego is a partnership between Promises2Kids and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency.

“In the course of my career as a social worker for over 10 years, I have been exposed to many human emotions; however, none have affected me as profoundly as witnessing siblings being reconnected at Camp Connect.”
